howdy & my story, so far...

I'm a freesurfer based in Perth, Western Australia & set the site up so you can see what's happening surf wise during my travels and from my home base.
Okay, my story starts like this. It started in year 6 with a friend of mine who lived close to the beach, he had one of those cool blue Hanimex single fins that everyone had in the 70's. I still vividly remember walking it down to the beach and paddling out & the beautiful water colours, feeling the water push me along and the thrill of it all. That's where it started for me, opening my eyes to the whole new world of surfing!
Since then I moved to Yallingup (South west of Western Australia) to pursue a cooking apprenticeship (oh, and also to surf everyday....) in the early 90's which was a whole lot of fun surfing endlessly good waves with very few crew around.
I competed for a number of years but my heart was never really in it as I have always prefered to free surf and surf whatever & wherever I can. My competitive highlights were the Margaret River Masters events where from memory I came 49th & 64th but the true highlights for me were the waves on offer & getting to meet & see the pro's tackle our conditions.
Since then I moved back to Perth & ran 2 businesses, bought a house, married, had 2 beautiful girls and travelled extensively. I am south each month surfing my favourite waves around Yallingup and enjoying & appreciating the area even more than when I lived there.
Anyway, that's a quick wrap up off my surfing history, so far. I am continuing the search to surf waves anywhere I can, looking in the remote out of the way places & looking at it all through a different angle.
